busBus is the cheapest way to travel around Spain and to other European countries.

While Spain has a national train service, RENFE, the same is not true of buses. Buses are run by private companies from a variety of different bus stations within Madrid. These are the 3 you're most likely to use:

Estación Sur is Madrid's biggest bus station. The bus companies that run from here are Alsa (Tel +34 902 42 22 42), which serves most major Spanish cities in Madrid, and Socibus (Tel +34 902 22 92 92), which services Sevilla, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva and Jerez de la Frontera.

Avenida de América is where you can find all the city buses to the airport and the interurban buses to Madrid's suburbs. The main national bus company that runs from Avenida de América is Continental-Auto (tel +34 902 33 04 00), which services Bilbao, San Sebastián, Vitoria, Burgos, Santander, Pamplona, Logroño, Soria, Guadalajara, Toledo & Granada.
